We hope everyone fills out the Newsletter Sheet to the left of the Dispatcher Window or e-mails Eric Lipsky at elipsky@northsidecarting.com with any and all info, updates, and news anyone would like included in the Newsletter.
We will make sure employee updates are added including Birthdays, Anniversaries, Family Celebrations, Graduations, Relocations, etc. Also, find this online in the Company News Section of NORTHSIDECARTING.COM or on facebook
RESIDENTIAL REMARK
The City of Salem forwarded us this email of thanks recently sent from a very grateful resident. It seems that the extraordinary service that this crew has provided is not going unnoticed. These are the types of calls that the Cities and Towns love to receive that truly resonates Citywide. Thank you to the crew that is going above and beyond to provide the type of service that separates Northside Carting from all other rubbish companies.
Good morning:
I wonder, Cheryl, if you could pass this thank you note along to the folks at Northside Carting, and ask them to thank the crew that services my home.
I live on ‘a’ Street in Salem, and the sanitation workers have been simply great about complying with my request that they put my trash can back on the driveway and not where it will be in danger of being in the street.
I lost a couple of trash cans in the past that way! but since I asked them to be more thoughtful about that they have done so, and I am very grateful.
It can't be the easiest or most pleasant job in the world, but it is a very important and appreciated one, and I for one want them all to know I appreciate and thank them.
Thanks so much.

EMPLOYEE LEAD RESPONSE
We would like to take a section to mention two employees who have presented quality leads to the sales representatives. Jimmy Neiman and Ricky Diodati have made a great impact on the Northside Employee Lead Program. Jimmy has presented several solid opportunities, in particular, Roll-Off work for Northside. Jimmy, a roll-off driver has always stayed on top of several sites that may require container service. By bringing in newspaper clippings or noting down active sites, Jimmy has been a very helpful piece of the Roll-Off fleet. A commercial driver, Ricky has provided several commercial leads throughout the market which one lead turned into a $25.00 GAS CARD for him. Ricky has provided consistent, thorough commercial leads.
Northside cannot stress enough how important the Employee Lead Program is to the success of gaining new business. In a transportation industry, the benefits are all around us. Thank you Jimmy, Ricky, and anyone who’s generated successful leads – please keep them coming!
***Reminder: Please submit all commercial leads to Lisa Donlon Radio #56
And all roll-off leads to Eric Lipsky Radio #30***
MassDEP Solid Waste Ban on Gypsum Wallboard
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has added clean gypsum wallboard (as seen right) to the list of restricted waste items effective July 1, 2011. This is another amendment to the MassDEP 310 CMR 19.000 which includes items such as wood waste, asphalt, brick, and concrete. One can find the new listing at their website: http://www.mass.gov/dep/recycle/laws/policies.htm#bans
TBI, the adjacent C&D Recycling Facility to Northside Carting, has been providing a closed cover, Gypsum only container for contractors and residents to properly recycle this material. This is another step towards providing for optimal and continued recycling throughout Massachusetts.
NEW EMPLOYEES
The Northside Carting team has grown in the past couple months and would like to take this opportunity to welcome its newest employees to the team. If you have not had a chance to meet them yet, here is a quick introduction:

Mike Diprisco --- Ramp Truck/Roll-Off Driver & Craig Cameron --- Residential Driver/Laborer and
Kevin Shark --- Residential Driver/Laborer

Employee Recognition
At the beginning of the spring, our employee, Craig Cameron, who’s also featured as a new employee caught the eye of a Salem Resident. That Resident felt compelled to e-mail Robbie George, Northside Carting’s President. Robbie was happy to see a Resident take time out of their day to acknowledge the job well done by Craig. Craig spoke positively during his time with the Salem Resident which shows how far a smile can go for anyone on their route. Too often do we see a job well done go unmentioned or forgotten, so on this occasion it was refreshing to see this positive moment reflected on by the appropriate people. We want to take this time to thank Craig for his efforts on a job well done!

Northside Carting and Philips Exeter Academy

We have an exciting announcement! Beginning May 9th, 2011, Northside Carting began servicing Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH. This account requires service from two divisions of Northside which includes commercial pick-up, construction and demolition roll-off service, and recycling pick-up. We at Northside Carting are thrilled to have this account. We feel this partnership is exciting and mutually benefical to both groups. Northside is lucky to share a commitment to excellence and leadership with Phillips Exeter Academy for years to come.
Northside Carting at the Clean Salem, Green Salem and Mighty Wave Project
On May 7th, 2011, Northside Carting participated in the Clean Salem, Green Salem event with the City of Salem Beautification Committee. The Mighty Wave Project was on hand during the event to promote the awareness of plastic bottle overuse.

Below is an e-mail from the Mighty Wave Organizer, Andrea Fox to the involved participants:
Subject: Thank You for Your Support in the May 7th Mighty Wave Project
I wanted to thank you all for your efforts in supporting The Mighty Wave. At the outset it seemed impossible, I am sure, but your helping hand enabled a major boost in the Citizens for Salem/Beverly Water Resources (CSBWR) Water Canteen Borrow Program marketing.
The purpose of the project was to show how quickly plastic water bottles accumulate and to bring some awareness that an alternative for public events exists—the Water Canteen Borrow Program. We certainly did just that! We received notice by many in Salem and will be receiving recognition from local news. The videos and pictures alone will help us greatly to market the availability of the free-to-borrow equipment to event planners in both Beverly and Salem. The equipment will help to lower the carbon footprints and environmental impacts of public events throughout the warm season.
I hope you all enjoy the photo album on our Facebook.com/CSBWR page. I zipped the image files—but even that is too large to send by e-mail. Soon there will be a Web page on The Mighty Wave, and I will keep you informed of this and other Mighty Wave ripples in local and other press.
Thank you again,
Andrea Fox

Northside Carting at the Salem Living Green & renewable Energy Fair
On Saturday May 23, 2011, Northside Carting participated in the Salem Chamber of Commerce Living Green and Renewable Energy Fair. The event was held at Salem’s Old Town Hall in Derby Sq. The event was a success with an opportunity to discuss Salem curbside collection as well as the Salem Transfer Station upgrade. Several Salem residents voiced their interest and support. Also, many dropped by to thank Northside for the consistent job well done on the streets of Salem.
Here are a few pictures from the event:
