We will make sure all of the employee updates are added including Birthdays, Anniversaries, Family Celebrations, Graduations, Relocations, etc. Also, find this online in the Company News Section of NORTHSIDECARTING.COM

EMPLOYEE LEAD RESPONSE
We would like to take a section to mention two employees who have presented quality leads to the sales representatives. Knox Clark and Dale Stein have made a great impact on the Northside Employee Lead Program. Knox has presented several solid opportunities that have turned into new stops for Northside. A commercial driver, Knox has provided a successful roll-off lead in Stoneham and a commercial lead in Haverhill. Dale Stein, a roll-off driver has kept his eyes on a few sites for Northside. Dale, who has been consistently following up with the Sales Department has been very helpful and hopefully soon to be successful with his leads. Northside cannot stress enough how important the Employee Lead Program is to the success of gaining new business. In a transportation industry, the benefits are all around us. Thank you Knox and Dale for your leads – please keep them coming!
***Reminder: Please submit all quality commercial leads to Lisa Donlon Radio #56
and all quality roll-off leads to Eric Lipsky Radio #30***
RESIDENTIAL REMARK
On February 8th the City of Salem received this e-mail from a resident that they passed along to us. Bob Hartford and Lee Smith are the driver and laborer that are described in the e-mail below. In a very difficult situation they were able to maintain their stance and accommodate the numerous cars that needed to be moved in order to back out of the street. This required the help of the Salem Police Department, but more importantly the patience of both Bob and Lee. Most of the time, these situations go unnoticed but in this case one of the residents made sure to put this story in the hands of the City, so they would know the difficulties we were facing. Keep up the good work Bob and Lee because it does not always go unnoticed.
Hi,
These poor guys have such a challenge. They have probably been on my street for at least 45+ minutes trying to inch their way down. They beep their horns - some people including me in my pink bathrobe - have gone out to move their cars up or down the street or just drive around the block to make it easier. They got 3/4 down the street and now have to back up necessitating more people to move their cars given the difficulty of backing up a huge vehicle. Although the City did a great job plowing, the snow fell back into the street as people carved out spots in the snow banks for their cars, shovel extra snow on top of very high piles, or just general slippage. There is no easy answer other than to ban parking on one-way streets until this problem lessens. However, the city would then have to provide parking for a huge amount of cars. The guy in the NS Carting truck riding shotgun was extremely pleasant and polite and still in good humor during what must be the start of a very trying day.
That said, the garbage is gone but I have doubts about the recycling. I would not blame them if they skipped this street. My recycling was missed last week because it was covered with snow and invisible before the guys came down the street. Oh, the joys of winter - here's to an early Spring.
EMPLOYEE PROFILE
Every month we include a Northside Employee Profile.
This month, Roll-Off Driver, James "Big Jim aka Jimmy" Bradley gave us some insight to his life beyond the rubbish truck.
Home Town: Augusta, Georgia
Age: 57
Years in the business: 40
How long have you been with Northside?
Six years
Where did you work before coming to Northside and what did you do there?
Waste Management where he's served as a residential, commercial, and roll-off driver.
What do you like to do outside of work?
For down time, James takes his fun down to Attleboro for target practice where he is regarded as one of the most experienced attending members. James leads a busy life like most of us, so finding time to unwind and enjoy fun is essential to him.
What are some of your favorite sports?
James loves football and some would suggest that "Big Jim" might moonlight as a professional without anyone knowing.
Thinking back on your time at Northside, what's a fond memory that comes to mind?
James said there were a lot of memories that came to mind. One that stood out for him was this year's Driver Appreciation Day Bar-B-Q. James acknowledged how the food hit the spot after a hard day's work. "The grills weren't the only thing working overtime on that day. So we all were grateful for the spread that was put together", said James.
STAY TUNED FOR NEXT MONTH’S EMPLOYEE PROFILE – IT COULD BE YOU!
DOGGY TIME
We want to expand this edition of the Monthly Newsletter to incorporate a section on all the dogs in our lives. A big thanks is due to one of our loyal driver's wife, MaryAnn Neiman. Ms. Neiman and her husband, Jimmy, a Northside roll-off driver enjoy spending time with their five, count them, five dogs. She has supplied us with an array of photos that we have below. In addition to their pooches, another Northside Employee, Lisa Donlon submitted a great shot of her two. Lisa let us know that this shot is a prized one as they rarely ever share the spotlight. Our first edition Employee Profile, Steve Abate, sent over two nice pictures of his Black Lab, Charlie. Charlie's a very energetic dog and a dear friend of Northside. Two Northside dogs that are around Holt Rd. more than the snow these days are Magnus and Fred. Recently, the two have been spending more and more time together, so we were able to include a couple of them in the same shot. We hope you enjoy the photos of the dear dogs. Please feel free to e-mail Eric Lipsky at elipsky@northsidecarting.com with any you'd like in a future Doggy Edition!

Winter 2011
With Spring right around the corner and what appears to be nice weather moving in, we would like to take this opportunity to recognize the extra effort it took to get through these past couple months. Completing the everyday job grew increasingly difficult with each additional snow storm that rolled through. There were problems that were overcome at all ends of Northside Carting. Snow banks and parked cars made it extremely difficult and in some cases impossible to drive down streets for residential collection. A shovel became a standard piece of equipment for roll off drivers to clear out the fronts of containers. Pushing a 2yd dumpster through an alleyway is a task that under normal circumstances is difficult, but adding the snow and ice made it almost impossible. These are just a few examples of weather related obstacles that were overcome by the entire Northside team. Although we are not clear of the winter season, operations are getting back on track and before we know it, spring will be hear. We want to thank everyone on the Northside team who went the extra mile to get the job done and please know that your efforts were appreciated by the residents, customers and all of us. Thank you again and let's all look forward to an early Spring.
